PADDLES UP!

It is summer time which means it is Wishmaker time! As you know each year we Dragon Boat and raise money and awareness for the Children's Wish Foundation. This year our wish child is Braeden, affectionately known as Mr. B. We greatly appreciate your support over the years, both monetary and in spirit cheering us on. We know that there are many charities out there, and this year a donation of any amount will make a huge difference as we are without a boat sponsor (who would cover our registration and practice cost). So if you can spare a little bit, or a lot, we thank you and if you can't we hope you can come cheer us on August 11 and 12 at race weekend! Thank you for taking the time to read our story and below for a little more about Mr. B.

We are the Wishmakers!  For nearly 10 years we have trained, fundraised and paddled our hearts out for the Children's Wish Foundation and our team's special Wish child.  We give hundreds of hours to grant a Wish.  We've been minions, snowmen, pirates - all for a special child and their family whose Wish we help come true.  We couldn't it without the people who support us though - people like you!

This year we are paddling for Braeden. Braeden (Mr. B), was not supposed to survive his birth let alone his first 219 days in Alberta Children's hospital. Mr. B has survived more challenges and has had to undergo more procedures in his first 5 years of life than most people have to endure in a lifetime.

He loves to dance, sing popular tunes, count to 1000, and read. He is also enjoying Kindergarten this year and teaching the other kids about inclusion.

Braeden is the embodiment of positivity and light, he is simply joy personified. B touches all who he meets and can still give love even in the most trying of circumstances.  Braeden continues to spend much of his time at ACH due to admissions and needing 22 clinics (specialists), but he also continues to teach medical staff that complex children have no boundaries and are the true heroes among us.

Braeden loves the ocean and he is the most peaceful on a beach (he's been to the west coast of BC twice), so we are thrilled to be looking at some time to dip our toes in the waters of Hawaii.

We're raising money for a great cause. Please sponsor any of our team members and help grant the heartfelt wish of a child like Braeden. For a family whose child is fighting a life-threatening illness, sometimes the power, hope and courage that a wish bring can make all the difference in the world. Together, with your support, we can reach our fundraising goal. Wishes work wonders, and every gift matters!
